The Inner Women

I recently spoke at an event for female millennials in business, when I looked at the young ladies in the room I was so impressed. In fact when in the green room prior, the host told me how excited she was to have so many influencers in the room.  The energy in the room was amazing! When it came time for panel questions to my surprise, many were discouraged with business because they did not have the likes they wanted on their pages or the traffic they desired to their blog sites. The lack of contentment was overwhelming! From the trendy bloggers, latest designers, speakers, photographers, pageant queens, you name it! Regardless of their success so many still seemed to "feel" like they were not enough. One young lady got up and asked me, "How do you keep going when it seems like no one is reading your blog?" I talked to her about perseverance and mindset. I told her it was her job to focus on those that DO read her blog and DO visit her social media sites regularly verses those that DO NOT! I warned her to not be so consumed with the numbers that she forgets why she is doing what she is doing in the first place. Which was to inspire and encourage her readers!

Unfortunately, I think today’s society has become infatuated with the idea of being successful. Now a days everyone wants to be a “Boss Babe” or a “CEO Chick”, but doesn’t really want to do what it takes to achieve it. I think it’s become more about a look than an actual lifestyle.  One of the main issues of this whole idea of success, is that we are feeding our appetite for what is appealing to the eye but starving the areas that are not seen, the inner woman.

This takes peeling back the layers of who we “seem” to be and digging into who we really are. Understanding our own motives, intentions, and why we do the things we do. This process is continuously avoided by society because we want immediate results in our businesses, careers, relationships, etc. Our culture tells us we always have to have something going on! But what that has led to is a busy yet unproductive life. It is so important that we slow down and to dive into our inner women. To take the time to understand how we are built, what our strengths are, our weaknesses, insecurities, what makes us thrive, or what even leaves us feeling depleted. The more time you spend getting to know yourself and the vision God has for your life, the more likely you will live your life with purpose. You will know what to say yes to, what to say no to. You will be more authentic and genuine in all that you do; instead of seeking to pursue whatever opportunity comes your way (aka being thirsty ladies). You realize you don’t have to be everywhere, doing everything, with everybody! Sometimes we lose focus on what it is we are supposed to be doing, because we are worried about what everyone else has going on. When you lack an understanding of your inner woman, your DNA, your identity, you run the risk of living life as a cheap copy of someone else. Constantly comparing your looks, achievements, family, everything... with other people. Building a life to please people who don't even know you or truly care about you.

So, what does it take? Well, one thing I know for sure is that it takes a whole lot of patience and discipline. This is not an overnight process, but instead a lifelong journey of nurturing that inner women and allowing her to develop in all areas. There comes a time where we must take our eyes off of what is on everyone else’s plate and place our eyes on our own! And lastly, be strategic about your next move, every decision, your business ventures, and relationships (whether it be professional or personal). Intentionality will help you remain centered on your vision, brand, and inner self. You have no idea how many women I coach to contentment! Just by simply holding them accountable to making decision based on their core beliefs. This is true freedom! So I hope this encourages you to dig deeper, go beyond the surface of name brands, a perfectly beat face, cute selfies, social media feeds and more. Work on that inner beauty, your inner woman!

I know it can be very challenging but it is worth it! If you found this informative, I'd love to hear your feedback so tag my Face Book page at Coleen Otero with your responses and be sure to check out my CEO Chick Page also! Until next time....smooches! xoxo.

Summer's Hair Trends We love..

If you know one thing about me it is that I LOVE HAIR! Hair has the power to transform any woman’s look to feel more bold, powerful, and confident. Whether your hair lacks body, if it is short or long, or simply unmanageable, that can all change with the use of good hair extensions. One of the reasons why I love Pure Luxe extensions is because it’s easy, versatile, and durable! If you want a chic short cut or simply long bombshell layers, with a few extensions you are able to execute the look of your dreams.

What look do you plan on achieving this summer? With the inevitability of sweaty bangs due to humidity-induced frizz fest, there’s no doubt that it may seem the summer weather is working against you. So, we gathered a few of our favorite trendy styles of this summer that might be a fit for you, and also help you withstand this hot climate…

Make Waves!

Waves are always a fun style, especially during the summer when a smooth and polished style is not always easy to maintain.

A Teased Tail or Bun!

Keeping your hair out your face can become key during the summer. This style easy and perfect for care free summer days!

The Bob!

This is a cut that will simply never go out of style. All textures can pull off the classic style of the bob.

The Beloved Lob!

If you can't bear the short look, then stylist suggest trying the lob aka the long bob. It’s long enough to tie in a cute pony tail, but short enough to tolerate in the heat.
